OK, so I have never done the build thread thing, and I haven't even spent much time in this section, so I'm doing this to try to help me come here more often, and get some pictures posted of my newest ride (my back up car). As many of you know, a drunk pregnant woman ran a stop sign, and did major damage to my grey car. Here's a little history on the car......................
It was purchased as a nice car to drive while I was originally building the grey car. I planned to take my time, and do everything right, so this made it easier to not rush things. But, not even a week after I bought it, I had to add water to the radiator, and the clutch was slipping. Yep, I probably bought it with early BHG. It was not bad, and the car ran great as long as I stayed out of the turbo. I drove it like that for about a year, driving it as hard as I ever wanted. I just knew if I drove hard, I had to add water.
The day came that the car would not start, and I could not figure it out. I took it to a mechanic to diagnose. When I dropped it off, I explained to him about the BHG. He said it didn't sound like BHG to him, and he would check it out while he had it. It turned out to be the CPS, and he swapped it out. He said he pressure checked the car, and the head gasket was fine. When I left the car was running noticeably stronger than it had before. But 2 days later, I started losing water in large amounts. I drive about a mile to work, and it took me a gallon of coolant after that short of a trip. Then the next day, I had to make a 10 mile trip to pick up my kids, so I took a gallon jug of water with me, and hoped for the best. I got there after 3 trips to add more water. For the trip home, I knew where I could get water, so I filled up and headed home. I made it to the second stop for water when it finally was going no further. I poured the first gallon of water in, and couldn't see it close to full. After 2 more gallons, it still was not full, and one of my kids told me there was a big puddle behind the car. I was pouring water in, and it was going straight through to the tail pipe. Maybe the mechanic really didn't know what a BHG was! I had it towed to my house and I bought a motor out of a junkyard for it. Within a week, I had the grey car finished, so I just kinda let this car sit.
A couple of months before I lost the grey car, I pulled the motor and tranny , and was gonna get started on replacing that motor. Then, I rememberred that I couldn't put it together until I bought it a clutch. Then, my grey car's tranny went bad, and I stole the tranny from this white car. This put the rebuild on hold again. Then the motor was bad, the tranny was gone, and I was considering a part out.
Everything was going good for the grey car, and my finances were such that I could get back to putting the car together. I bought a new tranny for the car, and was waiting for it to come in, when the grey car was crashed.
That put me into overdrive on getting this one back together. It took me a little over a month to get the tranny, get the motor ready to go in, and get everything hooked up and bugs worked out. Now, I have been driving it for about a week.
Here's some pictures of it, and I will tell of plans for the car below them.
