what part of the 60 is that? It looks like it's the receiver housing for the bolt, but I've never seen one disassembled....

Too bad it isn't as widely used anymore - odd SF teams. I love that weapon and would rather lug her around than the damn 240.

I was a "Security Forces augmentee" while I was stationed in Kunsan, Korea. During our 1-2 week long chem exercises [happened every other month], I was actually part of a fire team. That was much more exciting than sitting in a maintenance shelter, working on targeting pods in MOPP-4.
The M-60 really has that cool, kinda slow, stereotypical machine-gun sound. I wouldn't doubt if most machine-gun soundbites from motion pictures were taken from the M-60. The 7.62 ammo has the knockdown power your squad needs. What sucks about it is when you are the alternate gunner and have to carry half of the ammunition, plus all of your gear, weapon and ammo, while wearing chemical defense gear.

Cliffs: I was an alternate M-60 gunner and never got to shoot it.

Ahhh...Kunsan, a true garden spot in the Asian theatre ;)

I got to shoot a M-60 years ago...we were doing qualifications with the 9mm and the special ops guys were training next range down. Kinda wandered on over and they let me have a go. Damn nice weapon...a heck of a lot more accurate than I expected too!
