Recently I had a friend’s son changed his Windows Vista password then forgot it. I wanted to share a free program that will allow you to erase the password in Windows Vista/XP/2000 and so on..

http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/

In VISTA the only danger seems to be if you have turned on the encryption feature. Removing the password with this utility makes it impossible to see the encrypted data.

I just used this on a Dell Laptop with Vista Home Premium installed and it did remove the password from the user account and booted correctly into Vista.

USE AT YOUR OWN RISK - This program makes a Linux boot disk and edits the files needed to erase the password. IT CAN MESS UP THE COMPUTER and not allow it to boot so use it as a last resort…

You guys are WAY too nice. I prefer to tell the client that because they are so damn stupid, I'm going to have to format their machine, and everything on there currently protected by the password is GONE. :D
