Attention, attention, ladies and gents, boys and girls of all ages…..It’s time to pull on your trousers and come out to see some Wood. The bi-annual Food Lion AutoFair held at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Charlotte, NC again nears. This time around the fall AutoFair is being held 14 September-17 September 2006. HOWEVER, we as Mid-Atalantic Supra will be displaying only ONE day, Saturday, 16 Sept.
The fall event is the slightly smaller of the two AutoFair shows (spring and fall). However, you can still expect over 50 car clubs displaying all types of cars, 2,000 cars for trade or sale along the midway, 12,000-15,000 vendors, car auction and many other automotive events. Special guests from TV and film along with famous automobiles of various breeds. The fall event will have a special display featuring one of the most popular cars of the 1950’s, the Woody! Cars made popular by the surfer set, dude. Along with these Woodies come and pop a woody while joining in on the 40th celebration of the Dodge Charger. More info can be found by directing your wood-free hand over to the following website:

Additional info. The show is for ANY and ALL generation Supras. If it says "Supra" on the back it qualifies for the show. I love to see variety. It's the spice of life! This show is FREE FREE FREE to anyone wanting to display. Your car does NOT have to be showroom condition. A daily driver with some bruises? No problem. A project with a bit of mismatch? No problem. “Eat off me clean?” Always welcome. Nearly any condition of car is ok to display as long as chunks aren’t dropping off where it’s parked. Each attendee will receive one car pass for access to the display area and two people passes. Each participant receives a Food Lion AutoFair dash plaque and is eligible for judging within the club. Each club receives complimentary trophies based upon the number of cars on display. We have been allocated 15 cars slots which translates into 3 trophies PLUS 1 "Best of Show" trophy, a total of 3. All are FREE! In past shows the trophies have been EXTREMELY nice and top quality! The trophies this year are: "Best of Show", “First Place”, "Second Place", "Third Place".
Judging during the spring 2006 event was criticized for it’s presumed lack of fairness. Although everything is done to keep the judging unbiased sometimes the outcome isn’t always what’s expected. In the past we have kindly asked the Carolina Z Club to provide the judging for our club. This time around we are looking at keeping the judging internal. Attendees knowledgeable with the Supra will provide the judging. In order to keep the judging unbiased the acting judges will not have a Supra on display. IF, however, they do have a Supra on display it will be ineligible for any awards. We are still working out the exact judging criteria in order to make all gens and all models equally capable of winning any class. Watch this space for more info.
I am currently taking reservations for the open spots. Please post here, send me a PM or email with your name, user name and which forum it's from and the year Supra you will be displaying. My email: scottham (at) softplay.com.
Also, I am looking for individuals knowledgeable with the Supra, any or all gens, who would be interested in being a judge for your fellow Supra enthusiasts. Judging will not take up your day. Judging should take no more than 45 minutes, less or more depending on any number of issues.
