websites arn't saying how heavy each one is and searching didn't turn up anything. So what's the lightest? any issues with durability?

I *think* the RPS is the lightest, but the difference between that and the SPEC unit was not large. At one point I weighed the stock and the RPS and posted the difference... but damned if I can remember now, that was 2 years ago.

The difference between the stock and the RPS was significant. :)

The Fidanza is 11 lbs, it is what they claim and I put it on a scale. Some people have fitment issues with the Fidanza but mine was fine. I just put the stock one on a scale for ya and it said 18 lbs.

How much of a difference in 1/4 mile would you expect for an aluminum flywheel? Is it a huge difference in reving and power or just a little? I herd the starter teeth wear out about every year and the flywheel needs to be replaced??

i dont know what kind of difference it makes in the 1/4. all i know, is that my car revs like a crazy mo-fo when i floor it! :) it's excellent. reducing rotating mass is better than removing dead weight from the car. ;) i've had mine for over a year, and not a single problem, and the starter gear is steel on mine, i believe...

Its a bit harder to launch the car with a lighter flywheel but when it does get going the power is noticable , I also have a aluminum Drive shaft as well another good upgrade to improve throttle response

I've used a Spec for about 6 months now with no problems. Again they claim 11lbs and most people say its just a fidanza rebadged, so it probably is 11lbs. Like Shaeff said the gear is heat treated steel and like pressed in some special way for durability.

how much of the weight savings is taken off of the outer edge of the flywheel where it would make the biggest diffrence? a flywheel can weigh diffrent weights but if 50 percent of that weight is on the outer edge of the stock on while 70 percent is on the outer edge of the after market one, thats not too much of a diffrence. also, how much does the stock clutch and pressure plate weigh for a W58 trans? i didnt weigh the stock one yet or the xtd one i put in but the xtd pressure plate felt lighter. it was shipped ups at 18lbs. i will weigh the stock one when i get a chance.

It only saves 7 lbs of rotating mass?

grab a 1lb dumbell, tie it to a rope, and swing it around your head like a helicopter.

now go grab an 8 lb weight, and so the same? feel how much of a difference there is? which can you spin up to speed faster? which can you slow down faster? feel how much that extra weight plays a roll in the forces applied to the hand spinning them.

now, when you get up to 1000 rpm, (probably humanly impossible) you'll start to notice how the affects REALLY take place.
