i took mine to a transmisson shop down the street. didnt need to tell them anything other than it was a fw from an 88 turbo supra. $40 later and there it is. the TSRM does not give a spec for the fw to be machined to. i dot know why cuz it seems like it would be important.

here you go chris-

To maintain the same distance from the flywheel to the pressure plate (and therefore the same force) the step between the mounting surface for the pressure plate and the flywheel friction surface must be maintained. Therefore, they need to grind at two different depths.

The stepped ring of the flywheel is the mounting point for the plate. That step is .020

I have one here that was just machined. It has a step of about 20 thou. I only have a set of dial calipers though, not the more accurate micrometer.
I think machining a flywheel is a very simple, routine operation. Any automotive machine shop should know how, and should have the specs. If they don't, I'd find another shop.

I just give mine to a guy my dad used to work with... I have no idea what he does, but I'd put money on him not knowing what the hell he's doing.

Still no probs though. Of course this is on my 153 hp mkII, not a 247hp mkIII :icon_bigg

It needs a step, I gave mine to a machine shop, and I think they either didnt step it, or the step was too low, and my not paying attention to it, my clutch slips...Its a RPS 3200lb pressure plate with the 6-puck. I am putting out maybe 375ish tops. well below the rating of this setup.
