So Cal
This is my first ever attempt on flushing the coolant out of the system. Im not sure which hose is involved in the following step:

4. Using the flat head screw driver remove the heater hose from that comes from the back of the head to the right side of the heater junction at the heater junction connection. This is the hose that comes from the back of the head and is over a foot long and travels along the side of the firewall. You can see it in this diagram as part number 87245A.

Does that hose connect to the lower passenger side of the radiator?

no the hose at the lower passenger side of the rad is the lower rad hose. this is not the one being referred to.

You are looking for the heater hose (the hoses that bring coolant into the cabin for heat). if you look at the link, the thing at the top of the page is your heater valve, and is mounted to the firewall on the right (passenger) side.

Unhook the top rad hose from the radiator. Unhook the bottom hose from the rad. Grab the garden hose and turn the water on and spray it in the top rad hose. and watch the bottom hose flow the water out. When it comes out clear, or mostly clear then your good. O and dont forget to rinse the rad out as well.

Thats how ive always done it.

How does the water get past the closed t-stat? although i could see it working well if you have a stuck open t-stat.
This also creates allot of waste coolant to get rid of (which i am guessing you are not disposing of properly).
