hey guys have just done my first engine rebuild on my 7mgte and put the motor and trans back in the car i am about to hook everything up and was going to buy all the oil, coolant etc for it before the holidays over new years, i have searched around a bit on here and a bit on the internet on here says to use non synthetic, 30w oil, am i right?
also havent found anything on coolant, not sure if i need anything special?

prep for start up and run in is another part i am a little confused looked around on here and the internet and have had so many different opinions, my mate thats a mechanic said to turn it over a few times without starting up to let the oil make its way around and build up pressure, which i think is a good idea?
but as to running in i have seen things about going as slow as possible, shifting at 4k rpm and allways downshifting etc. and also another one on driving it as hard as possible to make sure the rings set properly. not real keen on that one lol

any opinions are greatly appreciated, would be good to hear from someone that has done their own rebuild aswell thanks :)

Use only Toyota Coolant. Do not use synthetic to break in an engine, use regular conventional motor oil. Drive it normally with some hard acceleration but do not go wide open throttle from a stop light. Ring will seal but don't drive it like your grandma would. Before starting your engine, pull the EFI fuse, crank the engine until you see oil pressure on the gauge, crank for another thirty seconds, then start....

cool cheers heaps didnt actually think about pulling the fuse, but thats a good idea lol mate said to take the spark plugs out but he has never worked on a 7m before lol.
what about first start up do you let it idle for an hour or so or just start driving it?
