Its my senior year in high school and for our english class we have to do a senior project during the 2nd semester, the project takes the entire semester to complete. So just for ease I chose do my project on the auto industry and my mk3 because i've been working at a high end european exotic shop for well over a year now and its a good excuse to buy more shiny go fast parts.
How it looked before I tore it down.
I had the 60-1 Ct and the stock manifold off in 1.5 hours.
To replace the CT and the stock manifold I bought a new MP T-70 from Mike Turbo Inc and a used SSAC manifold off an SM member. The flanges were really warped and terribly needed a new surface, so I gave it to my best friend who works for the best machine shop in Reno. Surfaced for free!
Got the manifold wrapped with DEI heat wrap with the stainless locking ties mounted (I have so many small cuts from the locking ties I cant count them all) and got the turbo mocked up on the manifold.
I had to have Jon at MDC build me a 1" spacer because the turbo is so big it hits the manifold without the spacer. Thanks Jon awesome work!!! I had to mill an end off the flange at school on one of the mills and grind down the exhaust housing flange with a grinder at work because the drain fitting gets in the way.
The drain line is an absolute bitch. You have to use 2 straight -10 hose end fittings, I bought the T04e pro oil line kit from Jon at MDC which comes with a straight -10 and a 45degree -10. You cant use the 45degree because it hits the #1 runner on the manifold so I had to make a trip to SummitRacing, I've been there so many times over the past few days whenever I go in there all the guys in the retail store are like "Weren't you just here?" "What else you need?!" I've given that place way too much money but its so terribly convenient, the warehouse is 15 minutes from my house.
Also got the feed line on too, I bought some of the high temp hose protection stuff, from Summit of course.
For the charge pipe I had a coupler laying around that I using for my SSQV kit when I had it on, it fits perfectly on the turbo outlet. You just have to cut the stock charge pipe down a little and it works awesome!
For the intake I obviously had to buy a reducer because im going to be using my Lex/550 until I go Maft-pro and bigger injectors.
I fabbed up a downpipe good enough to drive to the exhaust shop sometime this week.
