Flapping sound

I searched, but didnt really come up with a straight answer. When I build up boost and release off the throttle, there is a flapping sound. Where is this pressure being released from, the bpv? I just listen to some audio clips of supras, but they always have the woosh and I just have a flutter. One thing to consider would be that the line that is suppose to go to my boost gauge has nothing on the end (its not attached to the gauge). I'm not in the same city as my car so I cant just go out and attach it, and when I was by it the other weekend, I didnt have my boost gauge. So is that a pretty big boost leak that could be causing the sound?

one of your hoses isn't connected. probably the boost gauge hose could cause that since you know it isn't connected. Mine was doing the same thing and I checked, turns out that I forgot to reconnect the small vacuum hose on the BPV

:withstupi Sounds like compressor surge. This happens when your throttle plate closes and all the compressed air trys to go backwards through the intake piping. Its supposed to go out the BPV but if the vac. line isn't hooked up to the BPV it will stay closed, and all the air backs up through the turbo, slows the compressor wheel down very quickly and that is VERY bad for your turbo.

Well shit, what do you think the effects are of driving it for about a total of 10 minutes, but only a couple minutes at a time? (I would go around the block twice, then pull in and look for shit, then go back out and do two more laps...........and so on...... for about 10 min.)

it can damage your turbo over a long period of time. I have known people (idiots, mind you) that completely bloacked off their bov and surged the motor all the way down from 7000rpm and 18psi and the motor still worked fine. For how long I can't tell you....

LOL Dylan, those people love spending money, eh?
Dark006: You probably have a vacuum leak. I had one that I couldn't find and it caused my (blitz)BOV to open a small amount but still compressor surge happened... My turbo is fine, but definetely find that leak asap.

hmmm, my car kinda makes that sound too...but everything is connected right... I thought that it was normal, but I guess it isn't...It sounds like a quick fluttering when you release the throttle, do I have to replace the BPV?

Thats what mine sounds like too. Just really quick light fluttering. It doesnt sound like its bad, but I could be wrong (especially if it is compressor surge). I'll hopefully be able to put in my Bosch 110 this weekend and I'll let you know if that takes the fluttering away.
