Okay, I'm trying to fabricate some flanges for an adapter I am making to replace my CT12's with the K26 turbos.

I would like to know what thickness should I make the flange and what material should it be (what kind of steel should I use.)

Two flanges will look like the stock 1JZ flanges and two will look similar to a Nissan t-25 flange but made for the k26 application.

Two will be made for so that I can fabricate the downpipe as well mating it to the K26.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks guys.

This is what I am playing with :)

1/2" mild steel will work fine as it gives a little extra to surface once you're done welding. (Stainless would be nicer but it's a little harder to work and more expensive)

thicker is better. mild steel is cheap and easy to work with as i understand. and when you are done welding you will have to surface teh flange. during welding they will warp alittle and may not seal with the gasket. IJ has told me a belt sander will work.

Oh, alright. Yeah, @ $130ish for the pair, they're a bit high, but they are 321ss, so.... you know.
but, if I needed 3 different pairs I'd be doing something else as well ;)

I have one more question.

When I do the adaptor, what is the best way to have the wastegate piping setup.
IS it better to do a true"Y" type of setup or just weld on a pipe to the main adaptor piping (connector between turbo and mani).

I'd weld a pipe in so it's angled with the direction of flow but often the car will dictate how it's going to fit in as with the Mk3 most times there is a single spot that will work ;)!

ahhh one more question that I forgot :

The type of piping to use for the adapter as well. and what size piping should the wastegate pipe be???

Sorry for the these knitpicking questions, I just keep remembering as I go over the list.. lol

Thanks again guys..

Moe: You'd want the runner at least the same diameter as the WG hole and I'd go for 2mm minimum wall thickness up to 3mm maximum.

Thanks IJ ( notice this time I did not say 1j- as Mickey had corrected me lol :biglaugh: )

I just took my K26 turbo and the 1j manilfold to my mate's shop and he took the dimensions and will be cutting them up for me. Went and checked out all his machines in the shop and man he has all kinds of em...makes me very happy.
Im paying only 150 dollars for six flanges which is not bad..

Dang $150 for a SS turbo upgrade flanges. Can you make a lot of them we would gladly pay 2X that what hp do you plan to get out of the 1j with this mod 4-500 + ? and that looks like it would spool up fast.

Are you doing this in a sequential set up like the mkiv or twin like 1jz.

Well I have heard good things about the K26 turbos. Blitz uses a similar setup as an actual bolt on upgrade for the 1jz I think they have their own manifold and such.

I think it should support a good amount of power once tuned right with suporting mods but I have to find out myslef.

I am basically doing it due to cost effectiveness and I am definitely going through with it. I have the turbos and oil/water lines , and just needs these flange fabricated and then will do a mock up.
If it works well for me, maybe I can have this guy make some more flanges for us do it yourselfers :)

With supporting mods, you will be in the low-mid 500hp range. That's what I've seen done with other twin K26 kits.

Yes, spoke to my friend yesterday and the flanges shold be ready this week.
I am aiming for at least 400 hp with my setup, but anything higher would just be icing.I'll be happy with my goal.

Check if there's a Laser or WaterJet cutter in your area then take em some Gaskets as templates and get a quote :)!
That is what my friends at LSD Motorsports do to make their flanges. But, they buy in quantity so the price is always better. Anything you want they can pretty much do custom. You can contact them through their ebay store or website.
