Got my tools in lastnight and i put new hood shocks on (best things in the world) so this morning i figured id fix some of the problems that bother me about my car. My driver side fender had a rust hole in it and it was in turn rusting some other stuff and my drivers side door hinges were sagging and causing the door to hit the striker and then lift up to close thus making it EXTREMELY hard to close the door sometimes even to lock.

So i jacked the car up took tire and the inner fender well out and unbolted that shitty fender and threw it in the garage where it will sit until i need a bon fire or i throw it out!

Then i swapped the door hinges took a break swapped some stuff over to the red fender hung it up took a lil bit to get all the gaps right and started bolting it on.

The door hinges really helped my driver door closes all the way with the wind pushing it now.

All in all it was a good day on saturday im goin to pick up a custom 1 of a kind louvered hood from projectsupra ill post more pics when i get it on the car!

It always feels great to accomplish something, doesn't it?

When are you planning on getting it painted?

it feels fucking great ive been so mad for the past 3 months because ive had no tools what so ever all of mine broke doing 1 job every single tool i had broke on 1 job.

its not gonna be painted for awhile i wanna get it done in lexus 050 white pearl....with more pearl :) so itll be like white primer and shit for a lil while until i get the money to paint it.

ah as long as you stopped the rust and don't have to struggle with the door anymore its all good :)
if i woulda kept the door like that it prolly woulda broke the handle or my key off in the lock sometimes it gets so hard to unlock because of the striker hitting it that i have to use vise grips to turn the key.

thats all fixed now tho

EDIT your car is almost exactly the same as my old 87 thats where this fender came from :)

Ooh - nice pics dude. I have the same problem with the 'fender' on my passenger side too (same as your driver side) - how did you manage to unbolt it without removing the front nose?

How many bolts are needed to take it off?

door hinges were free their off my old 87 and after you take the fender off because you have too to get to the hinges as long as you close the door all the way make sure its closed all the way and do 1 hinge at a time like replace the top first then the buttom youll be fine. When your breaking the bolts loose or tightening them all the way down lean up on the door just incase. but other than having to take the fender off its a piece of cake everything is right there.

fender is a bit of a bitch, You have to take out the inner fender well so that means the tire has to come off jack the car up a lil (im wishin i woulda took more pics now) there are 13 bolts that hold the fender on itself i think ( i just counted in my head) the hardest bolts are the at the very front of the car under the headlight, under and behind the headlight and inside the fender holding the nose peice too it. everything else is easy to find you got the 2 bolts under the mudflap thing and 1 bolt when you open the door by the windsheild piller. i dont have my car today as my aunt took it to work but heres a pic of the genral area of the bolts ill try to get pics tonight of the hard to find bolts.

also if you get all the bolts out and the fender doesnt come off you kinda gotta pry it away from the top where the bolts are along the side of the engine bay toyota put this non sqeak shit and its like rubber and it holds it down pretty damn good.

also dont loose the rubber pad that will be under the fender below the windsheild keep that in place.

Gts firefighter!!!! I got my hinges direct from toyota!!! I wanted new not used. I think I payed like $55.00 per side. I used a jack under my door when I was adjusting so that away I could tighten and adjust to where I needed.

Supaman, car is looking good!!! I remember having red fenders, a black hood, a green door, a red spoiler, and white targa top on my faded blue car before paint............lol

Good luck and keep us posted on progress!!!!!
