I'm not a mechanic by any stretch, I'm a software developer. One of those jack of all trades, master of none type of deals here. I have an 89 with the 7M-GTE, its all stock. Lately, I've been having issues with miss-fires, first thing in the morning or any time its completely cooled off. It will run up to 3rd gear before it starts to do it too. It doesn't seem to matter if the car is up to running temp though. It does it randomly for about 5 to 10 minutes of driving, then goes away and runs great afterwards. It had an oil leak from the valve covers that got oil down in the spark plug wells and I had to replace the plugs. The miss-fires went away for a couple of days, then came back. Keep in mind that I'm a newbie at auto mechanics. Any ideas or just plain, 'this is it dumb-a$$' ??

^x2 also make sure when doing so, to gap the spark plugs correctly. The box says pre gapped but that does not mean they dont have to be gapped. Also take the black center piece with the 3 large hex bolts on it when your doing the plug, grab some brake cleaner and spray down there and clean everything up with a rag (not while any plugs are in). Also when changing the Valve Cover Gaskets, you can put a few dabs or black rtv to hold the gaskets on the the valve cover. They are kind of a pain in the ass if they keep falling out. Keep us posted!
