Ok, i'm running a 7mgte coil pack on my 5M turbo car. I also have a MicroTech standalone that was configured for "direct fire". the diagram shows 6 coils and i have 6 wires coming out of the ECU to be hooked up to a coil. Now.... I have it in this coil/plug arrangement... 1&6, 2&5, 3&4. Currently I have only 3 of the ECU wires hooked up to each coilpack; 1, 2 and 3. DO I need to run 2 wires to each coil??? Or just 1 like i am now? Reason I ask is b/c cyl #6 isn't "working" per say. and I think it has somin to do with the coil wiring set up.

Don't really know anything about the MT ecu's but it should have an option for waste fire in it's configuration section.

If not it's Coil drivers may not have enough juice to do the job in wastefire mode.

Personally I'd go for individual coils if you have that option.

ok, what does the 7mgte crank sensor look like inside? how man teeth and stuff? b/c my 5M's dizzy has a 24 tooth wheel and a 2 tooth wheel with'm 180* apart. my dizzy does 180* for every 360* of crank. so I don't understand how the computer knows where TDC compression is for #1? It'd make more sens if the 2 toothed wheel only had 1 tooth. that way for every 720*... 2 crank revolutions it comes up once. that way the ECU would know WTF is going on... and would allow me to run direct fire. Any got a pic of the 7mgte crank sensor insides?

7M CPS sounds much the same as yours 24/1 but with 3 pickups.

I have a 24/2. not 24/1. I'm saying it probly makes more sense having a 24/1 b/c that way the ECU would know if it's TDC compression or TDC Exhaust.

Most standalones will give you the option for different triggers.

On mine I use a single trigger on the CPS for refference and 3 triggers on the flywheel for firing events.

Does the MT site have any clues?

Direct fire would be better if you can sort it out.

i'll have to get into the software... not really sure. when you say you have a single trigger onthe CPS.. you only have 1 tooth where I have 2 right?

UPDATE: I shaved 1 of the 2 teeth off the Dizzy and indexed it to TDC compression #1. And then wired up all 6 coil trigger wires... so i have 2 triggers per coil. took it a minute to initally start, but It's running SOOOOOO MUCH better than before!!! Also figured out why it's running "rough". Injector #6 is DEAD as a door nail. I triggered all other 5 injectors and could hear them "click" and spray fuel. #6 didn't do anything. D E A D. NO click, no nothing. that would explain why it's running rough and the spark plug looks new still.
