I've been using FireFox for a long time now - less popups, less spyware, etc, etc. I've known about adblock for a long time, but I just installed it today. Holy crap, it makes the internet useable again! Check out the two screenshots below - which one would YOU like to use?

Firefox isn't that much of a resource hog. It runs fine on my p2 300Mhz laptop w/160 MB under Ubuntu linux. I have to drop out of X to get smooth video playback, but other than that it runs fine.

yea it is, when or if you leave it in the background when playing a heavy resource game like F.E.A.R. or BF2, you really can tell a difference. now if your just running FF then yea it runs smooth as hell.

Dead, I think there is something wrong there. I run multiple FireFoc windows in the background while playing FEAR with no slowdowns at all. I have more system resources free when running FF than I do when running IE.

Are you running a bunch of plugins? Custom skins?

And how did you manage to get it up that high? What extensions are running, any applets/flash, how many tabs, etc.? That number means nothing without knowing what you were doing with Firefox. Under regular use for me Firefox rarely breaks 70 M. I've seen it as low as 20 M before.

I can get the memory usage to pop up pretty high if I work at it, sure. Like browsing and downloading 1600x1200 wallpapers... especially if I open a bunch of tabs. But whatever, I'd rather buy more memory than put up with cleaning spyware off my machine every few days.
