I went to get my smog check and failed. HIGH everything, first time my all stock 89N/A has ever failed. The tech said my timing was off so I took it right over to my mech straight from there and had it checked and it was on the money so Stay away from Ace Smog in Oceanside. Now it did have other issues, plugged EGR, bad O2 sensor, and a bad ICS and some electrical issues with the AFM. So I left it with my mech, then took them spare parts I had and they did everything including fix my valve cover oil leaks, do an oil change with castrol Euro 0W30, Wix filter, wix air filter and took it to the smog shop behind them and it passed with flying colors everything way low now. So a Big Thanks to LSI Automotive in Oceanside, CA. It's owned and operated by an Dewight, an ex Marine, a man of true honesty and automotive knowledge. The entire job including the smog check was only 659.00. I am one happy man.

Jdub, yes thanks to you and everyones help with that darn part number. Once Autozone got back to me after a month with the right series of numbers I was able to locate it at an Autozone near me. I'll tell ya I can use all the MPGs I can get right now at 4.13 a gallon and driving 75 miles round trip everyday for work LOL

Passing smog here isn't thatttt hard.

Congrats Geezer. Sounds like you got a good deal!

To do it LEGALLY without paying someone under the table. It is ;) Though I remmeber back in Florida when they had smog, that my supra always passed with flying colors. Like ultra low emissions! :)

I just got an 89 turbo that hadn't been driven for 6 months to pass with FLYING colors!

Albie t, The smog tech was a very down to earth, kind guy, and let me pass even tho I needed a new gas cap and my filter didn't have a carb sticker.

And make sure the Cat is warm. It failed horribly the first time, then the tech load drove it and then let it idle for 20 mins and then it passed wonderfully!
