I wanna get 600+ hp from my 7M-GTE. I was wondering if my stock intake manifold will be good for it. If not what ffim is best and what would I need to replace along with the manifold. Thanks!!

I did some search but didnt really come up with the answer I was looking for.

I think that forward facing is the only way to go for making that kind of power. The way the ffim flows is so much better compared to the stock 7m intake manifold. The air is dispersed and spread more evenly in the ffim. Plus you can run a more efficient intercooler setup with less piping and have boost hit the throttle body that much faster.

600whp were being achieved before the current FFIM fad became popular. ;).
Note, Mk3 are ~15 to 16yr at their youngest, so a lot of stuff have been done / accomplished.. Only thing rather novel is the advancement of available electronics, such as easily installable standalones and a few other tidbits, but whp can be summarized as BTDT...

Alright, so I have decided that I am going to go with the ffim? What do I need? Which one should I get? From where?

Really now. And you happen to have proof of this with flow charts and none of this "my friend told me" bs. About the only advantages of a FFIM is a cleaner engine bay, shorter IC piping, and it is easier to change plugs.

Can you prove that with flow charts?

The FFIM is nice, but Shawn Cassidy and Will Neely proved the stock to be fine. Shawn is making well over 700rwhp and running 9.3's in the 1/4 mile. If you go FFIM get one from Sethron or JT2MA71. Or just stick with the stock setup for a while until you get a standalone or map based system to take full advantage of the FFIM.

Side note, you will need to relocate the battery to have the most effective and efficient system for the FFIM.

Me? Nope. And no need for me either. Im not looking for my FFIM to improve my performance. If I wanted to have the best performing intake manifold I would have stayed with a stock manifold ;)

hmm... ok. I just want to make sure that I can get the power I need out of it.

This is a ridiculous statement.::hang::
So is this, especially when there's nothing posted to back it up.

For proof that a FFIM isn't required, check out http://7mpower.com/ and http://www.gtepowered.com/. More than a few 7M cars there making lots of power without a FFIM.

Are there benefits to the FFIM? Sure. However, there are better places to spend your money - areas that will give you a lot more bang for your buck.

Haha I had a feeling Grimjack would see this eventually. But he is correct, there are certainly better places to spend money first. It depends on your budget and what your doing with those 600 horses...drag racing, autox...and along with your budget and your time frame for the build. You can achieve better flow and response with a custom FFIM and have options...hence CUSTOM.

As far as general benefits, less weight...less stress, better flow with a WELL designed FFIM...bigger throttle body, more efficient IC setup(less piping/bends/less heatsoak...but that can be easily remedied with wraps), cleaner engine bay, the ability to go with an ITB setup.

Just because it's front facing, doesn't mean it's better. A while back on Supraforums, someone flow tested a stock MK3 and MK4 intake manifold, and the MK3 had slightly better flow #'s. Now some of the custom ones that are actually FLOW TESTED are much better

IMO, there is money better spent to make power. I'm making nearly 500rwhp at 17psi on my little GT35 with the stock intake manifold.

As I was saying. Sorry I searched for the thread since I also saw them being tested but my searching skills suck and couldn't find it

I'm convinced that the stock will do fine. I am doing a complete rebuild but in reality I think I will be fine... i saw plenty of numbers over 600 with a factory intake and familiar setups on 7mpower.com.
