Hi, I discovered that my 7mgte has arp studs and torx bolts on the flywheel and head. Im not sure how to determine the size of these torx bolts so can someone lead me in the right direction? Thanks!

they arent torx heads, they are hex heads.

for the head, its 10mm. and FYI that is stock. ARP bolts use a 1/2inch 12 point head.

for the flywheel, im not sure what you have there.

torx:

hex socket for comparison:

i actually think that you can use torx drives in a hex head'ed bolt, but not the other way around.

Hey lagged, thanks for the reply. I think you're right about the head bolts being a 12pt bolt. I have no clue why I thought it was a torx. Below is a pic of the flywheel bolts. I can't reuse the flywheel bolts right?

you can, even the stock ones. though you should replace them. but those are ARPs so you can reuse them.

those might be 1/2inch also, not sure.

btw where in NYC are you located? have any pics of your supra? where did you get it from?

I'm loacated in Queens, NY. I bought the car for $600 from some dude that lived in Staten Island but he kept the car parked at his job in Jamaica because it had a blown motor. He told me it had spun a bearing but I found out it threw a rod and punched a hole in the block :icon_conf . I surf supraforums (rs4buddy). Thats my friend's username I borrow it from time to time. I've pm'ed you regarding an engine previously (still interested btw just give me some time).

Also, can you tell me a bit about this clutch? Does it look like it has some life left? I heard that resurfacing to the flywheel may be needed to prevent slipping if required. What do you think?

i agree, there is some life left on that disk. id replace it though, why not do it now while the job is easy? i personally HATE doing a clutch on the supra, its easy but i just dont like doing it.
