Hello all, im looking for a turbo that will gve a fast spool, somewhere around 3k, that will net me somewhere in the 350-400 wheel hp with the ability to turn up the boost. It would be something installed on a fresh rebuilt motor .20 over MHG ARP new rods, berrings, pistons and rings. the only requirement that i have is that it needs to be either a t4 or t3 footprint, so that i can use the ssautochrome after it is modified. also something that comes with a DP, or has one made for the MK3 would be great. i dont want to go with an upgraded ct, as that limits me later on.

mods that will go with the turbo:
3 or 3.5in exhaust
safc2, WB02
550s and lex
filter on the end of the lex
new fpr and pump
(recomendations will be taken into concideration)

there is no perfect turbo. you have to make concessions based on your requirements for spool and max power.

if your current goal is merely 350 rwhp, keep the stock turbo and settle for low 300s....easier and cheaper, not to mention allowing you to figure out where you want to go.

i was hoping for something that would last a while at those HP settings, not something that i would be worried about the possibility or it crapping out whenever i get on it. thats why i would rather run lower boost and keep it alive longer than running higher boost and it dieing out sooner. that and i dont have a stock turbo, as i will probably be getting this motor from a friend.

Upgrade your Turbo to a 57 Trim...You should get a fast spool if you have supporting mods plus it will last and should have no problem reaching these power goals.

im kinda leaning towards the td06 20g, anyone have any experiance using this inconjunction with either a ddp or a lip elbow with a 3in dp?

There are a few here who have used it. They reported that its response is a little slower than a stock CT. That is expected. But it isn't a lag monster, and has no problem hitting that power level.

I would go with the SP58GT with a .58A/R turbine housing. That will get you 500rwhp+ with very good spool.

Remember, the turbine side of the turbo will effect spool more than anything. Keep the turbine wheel and especially the turbine housing small if you want fast spool.

Sp61, with a .68 exhaust side should spool you up relatively quickly.

Blah blah blah. :nono: :nono: :nono: :nono:

Sp smesh p. Will do the job. Worth the cash? Not really.

The turbine side does make the most difference when looking at spool, both the turbine, and the turbine housing but REMEMBER! The turbine is there to provide enough torque to turn the compressor wheel.

I can show you a P trim turbine (large) that will out spool a stg 5 (small) and in theory flow up to 600hp.

I have a Garrett with a .81 A/r, and 57 trim wheel. I cannot believe the spoolup on it. It made my bolt on SP61GT look like a lag monster. I'm very impressed, considering I was expecting some lag going with a larger A/r.

Is this the unit that I built for Rakkasan?

If so, that thing should be a spool monster. :)

I was just using one SP turbo as an example, and a good example at that.
When you find me a turbo that has makes 645rwhp and spools this fast on a 3.0 liter engine, let me. Ok, maybe a GT35DBB, but I still have not seen one maxed out on a supra yet......http://www.supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=146635&highlight=sp58gt

Actually, you might want to check out www.moreboost.org. Now look at the dyno charts and look how slow the turbos spool with big GTQ turbine wheels and the big .81, .96 A/R housings. Look at the SP57's and how well they spool with O trim turbine wheels and .58 A/R housings.

Seriously! I thought I'd actually have traction for once, starting at 10 Psi, and it rivals the SP when it was pushing 20psi! My aspirations for traction were quickly shot down :(;)

Im looking for the same information.

I have a t4 flanged manifold on the way with the t3 adapter so I can go either way. Im also not really interested in sticking with an upgraded CT-26, and not because the CT cant do it. I want an externally gated setup among other reasons.

350-400 HP is the goal with headroom. Im also only looking for something that will run 10-15k miles before it gets upgraded to something bigger/better. Budget is probably the most important factor. Fast spool (3k or less), high RPM power can be sacrificed. I want it to spool fast and hard but I am willing to give up top end.

So you turbo guru's: what A/R and trim levels would give me what Im looking for and in what torbo housing? Ive read about all I can absorb for one day on turbos and turbo tech, but I still cant make sence of the whole ratio/trim/housing numbers, and how they will work on the 7M. so any help would be appreciated.

so, no help here? Come on guys throw some ideas at me.

350-400hp, NOT a ct-26 or other internally gated, near stock spool point.

or hows this can someone tell me the A/R on a stock ct-26?
