Hey guys, finally had the time to put my question up. It's another quick one (I hope). Some time ago, while looking for electric fans, I came upon a long forgotten link where I remember reading that we could swap the Toyota Tacoma's or Tundra's fan clutch onto our own cars and they would work like a charm.

Now, I don't remember at all where it was, but anyone around here know if it's true or not? Does it actually work better?

I've done it! Yes, it's true! Yes it works! Somehow it allows the fan to pull a crap load more air (perhaps through greater lock-up of the viscous coupling, I'm guessing?) And, yes, it was a direct replacement.

You can always refill yours. There's even a Toyo p/n for the fluid. Or you can tune it using the different weights of silicone oil available at any hobby shop. Or just open yours up and lock it. Why anyone would want to do that is beyond me though. What's your goal?

Would you know if the Tacoma or Tundra fan is used on any other Toyota model because we don't get those here in Australia. The only Toyota pickup (ute here) we get is the Hilux.

sorry for the very late reply, but thanks for the info!

Bte, jetjock, sounds like a good idea to try the silicone thing and such, but that would require quite some time with trial testing and such. Yeah, you might end up saving a bit extra, but screw it, I'm lazy :biglaugh:

I come from a land down under
We don't get the Tundra here at all Nick.

I bought a brand new GTE one when I built my motor, I can't remember how much it was exactly but it was expensive.....

I had a new NA one on my old motor but it wasn't going to work well with the 10 blade GTE fan.
