I bought a used exhaust off an SF member... we refered to it as an "N1" I think I may have made a mistake, as I assumed it was an Apex-i N1... I don't think it is. The steel is most definatly mandrel bent, and seems to be of great quality, but can anyone identify this?

That is the exhaust depot exhaust.

It is a replica of the APEXi N1, made in the USA. It is actually BETTER then the N1. It is fully stainless steel, whilte the N1 has steel piping.

So think of it as an N1 SS!

uh, how can you tell? did you measure the ID of the piping?

the piping is 3 inch, but the muffler is 2 or 2 1/4. Yeah, I measured it... Couldn't get a tape in there very well which is why I'm not sure if its 2 or 2 1/4. here's a pic to show what i'm talkin 'bout

ooo damn that sucks.

if i were you i would cut the muffler off and have a shop weld one on for you. shouldnt cost more than 45 bucks for them to do it, plus the cost of whatever muffler you pick up.

EDIT: OR sell it to me ! i love what i have but i would like the angled N1 look on my car......

Here is a picture of my HKS Hiper muffler. It also goes down to about 2.5". It is a baffle used to "catch" the exhaust and get more into the packing material. However, the HKS Hiper has a 3" inlet. APEXi N1s that I have seen are also like this.

Since I sell Exhaust Depot systems, I'll be asking them about this and maybe see if I can get exact specs on the mystery muffler.

If you decide you need a bigger diameter, I'll happily trade you a Megan Custom catback for that one, yours is worth way more. The Megans are truly 3" all the way through (you could put an arm through it, if you are skinny). However, they are loud because of that.

I am the guy that Justin bought the exhaust from. I gave him his $$ back and had him mail it back to me at my cost so Im out $50 for all the postage. I bought this muffler through 935motorsports and I did not notice the smaller ID of the muffler. It was just actually too loud for my taste. I got a Tanabe Hypermedalian which is what I had on my car previously. It has a nice deep tone to it. Again, the Exhaust Depot N1 has a nice tone too but just a little loud for me.

I am upset that this exhaust was sold to me as a 3" and its only a 2.5" ID muffler. It seems weird that ExDepot put so much effort into otherwise good materials/construction/welds to have put a small muffler on the end. It appears that there was an attempt to hide the smaller muffler because the 3" pipes were welded directly to the muffler and the 4.5" tailpipe was welded directly to the other end.

This exhaust would be fine for a stock or near stock motor, but Im near 500RWHP so the restriction is intolerable.

935motorsports, what am I to do with this ED N1?

We have since learned that all the JDM catbacks are like this. Tanabe APEXi HKS Hiper all snake down to 2.75" or less inside the muffler in an attempt to quiet them down.

It seems you have already replaced the system, so I'd suggest polishing it up and putting it on eBay. It should sell well as it is still a sexy exhaust.

I can still offer to trade you for a Megan 3" welded catback, but the weld quality will be nowhere near that of the ED.
