I am in the middle of making a 3" test pipe with a built in exhaust cut out that has a boost activated valve just for our cars that I will be selling if you wish to wait.

Rich: Is there any way to open it prespool where it would help the most?

It will open using a standard spring type actuator, the psi can be adjusted via diff. spring pressures or even using a MBC. I guess an actuator with a 5 psi set up would work well. It should open just as the turbo begins to go positive.

I was thinking that setting up an exhaust cut out in this fashion would provide a way to have a adjustable setting on a mech. that is already designed to handel the heat, does not require you to crawl under the car, or to throw any switches. It would allow you to run quiet, but then at a predetermained boost level would open up. You set this one up how you like it and forget about it. Same response everytime you floor it. To open prespool, you would need an electronic selenoid to throw open the flapper. Maybe we could invent one that would have a small controller that could read the volts from the TPS and then would open the flap at a certain a preset TPS percentage.

I come from a land down under
I guess it would depend how quiet/restrictive an exhaust you were running to how much it would affect spool.

Mine's pretty rumbly/not restrictive at all so running it Boost operated wouldn't affect much.

I was thinking of the guys that run a near stock Choke ummm I mean Exhaust ;)

Yeah, the reason I'm running one is because I will be running a cat and a quiet muffler. I had a car before that had a nice sounding but loud tone, it grew old and annoying. So this way when driving around "normal" (or with a chick) I can run quiet, but when I want it I can just flip the switch.
