I have a magnaflow cat-back, But my cat rust off the flanges and
fell off on the highway. I have had people tell me that I should just get a
pipe to fit over both the down pipe and the new cat back, and cut the flanges off both and weld it in to one piece. Then I had people tell me that I need the flanges there because its better on the exhaust. My question is would it hurt to have a welded one piece full exhaust?

It wouldn't hurt so to speak, but it will be a bitch to remove it if you need to. An inline mounted engine puts alot less stress on an exhaust as opposed to a transversly mounted engine.

If your downpipe has a flex section, that works better, but I'd personally recommend that you leave at least one flange in place, if for no other reason than to make it easier to remove the exhaust if/when you need to.

Over time would the stress from the motor break the welds?
So the only bad thing about a one piece is the maint. aspect of it?
