Exhaust manifold bolts

Hey guys im (as most of you know) going NA-T and im replacing my exhaust manifold with a turbo one. I just went out and purchased a new exhaust manifold gasket. I am not going to be using the 20 year old stock bolts either.

The auto parts store didn't sell em so im guessing i have to go to toyota, right?

And idea on what these go for?

Toyota, or get with BigAaron on that one. He's selling the helicoil kits that come with standard size studs and nuts. Best to do it now anyway

Helicoil, i thought that was if i needed to make a new thread or some sort in the head?

Toyota is your best bet and if you strip the bolts use helicoil, it helps

You're right, Will.. Helicoil is a threaded insert to repair damaged threads.
However, it's much stronger than simply threading bolts into aluminum.

Do it now, or do it later. You're gonna need to helicoil at least one of those exh. mani stud holes, may as well do it now...

Nope didn't strip any of the bolts, had trouble with one, but its all good.

Hope they dont charge like hell for seom harware! damn toyota...

Ok, looks like im off to find some "helicoil".

I dont care what it cost or how long it takes, im doing this project right the first time.

This thread has some good information - Helicoil, in car - as well as where to get the kit for $31. Out of the car is obviously the easiest time to do it but it can be done in car.
