i went to my local autostore and asked if they had any exhaust gaskets for the 1j and they asked me if it was a v8 -_- well i ended up just wire brushing the manifold and decided to use cork. any opinions on cork, is it any good or should i be using something else?

Of course they had no idea what a 1j is, it was never offered in an american car.
You know, I think I have a set of those ones that come with the chinaman single manifolds laying around. $10 and they are your shipped. Otherwise if you want factory MLS exhaust gaskets, you'll need to talk to Carson Toyota or Castle Hill Toyota.

Sometimes they have stock other times they don't. It's easy to get the Gaskets you need if you by a Gasket Set, but you have to shell out more for the set. Other then that it's wait a little while until they get more in :biglaugh:
