So i was driving around yesterday evening, and i got off the highway downshifting from 5th to 4th annd 4th to 3rd, then i threw the clutch in, stopped and took a left hand turn, and took it to about 5.5k in first and shifted hard to second, and as soon as i let the clutch out in second i got a nice pop backfire, and about a 2 or 3 foot flame out the back of the car, it was great, lit up the sides of the road and everything. im running pretty much all stock except for a 3 inch catless turbo back. and i tried to re create the same circumstances, but i couldnt get the flame out of it. just some nice bangs...anyone know any tricks to do that? cuz i would like to get it on video lol

its from running rich, usually happens from venting the bov to the atmo. the cats would normally keep the flame in check but since they arent there its a more direct route w/o interfierence (sp)

Mine shoots flames every now and then. I have 3"DP and exhaust, no cats. I didnt realize it did this until i raced a few guys on the interstate and they said every time i shifted it shot a flame out.

It happens to my car a lot but thats because I'm running an open downpipe. It usually happens when I either shift really hard or bounce it off the rev limiter.

It happens for me quite often, and I've received a ticket for it too. It looks cool to some, but it's not for me. I'm trying to get some time to correct my tune, I'm still running too rich (but not as bad as I used to).
