Ever get lucky on cheap or free parts?

Im rebuilding whatever the hell is wrong with my head (something with ticking, Ill prolly post the whole story sometime)

ANyways, Ive been in desperate need of parts and such, and I lucked out when a member from another place, said he was on his way down to H-Town for his bros wedding, offered me up a NEW fel pro HG for $20 and a K&N FIPK filter for free, said a shop gave it to him, he doesnt need it. I still need $$$ to fix some other stuff, still havent seen the damage under my head to my valves, hope its not bad. ANyways, anyone else ever luck out like that? This car has been a blessing and a curse in one... and I fuckin love it.:evil2:

i was Really desperate for an air intake hose. napa didnt have them but a kid working there happened to have a few laying around. gave it to me for free which was cool.

i gave away AFM electronics to Jon at MDC. he paid shipping. and i gave a turbo throttlebody away, too, but i can't remember who i gave it to...

i gave like 12 stock injector clips to Jeff Lange, and misc small bits and pieces to other people...

I have given away thousands in parts and even paid shipping sometimes. That's the way the community operates. Especially when someone's hooked you up, you need to pass the favor forward (or pay it forward, like that movie).

Anyways, even when I don't need something, I'll buy it off Ebay/Supra-owner for a fraction of what it's worth (if it's a great deal) and hang on to it, 'til someone needs it.

It can backfire tho, Like when I gave a way a couple of mass air sensors, then a month later mine went bad on my 87T... I had to pay ~$75 for a replacement.

I have boxes of stuff I've collected over the years and am kewl with giving it away if it can help.

Oh, and a big thanx to people like Rakkassan, Orin, Preston, (and all the others) who've hooked me up with stuff too.

I got a good deal on front brakes and pads - £12 for the lot

They had been used before, but not a lot, still had a load on the pads and the discs were almost new. Pretty good bargain i say

I must say...Aaron is the best...he has given me stuff...like a couple of sensors, and a stock hg, and whatever he couldn't let go for free, he gave me a killer deal IMO. Thanks Aaron!

And I must thank the WeezL! He donated me a pair of modded taillights and a center section that matched my car, after mine were damaged badly in a fire. Thanks WeezL!

As far as me contributing, I do what I can, but I really wish I could contribute to the community more...
