Front Passenger blew out on me on the interstate as I was picking up some serious speed merging into traffic on the freeway.

And...it, WAS...as bad as I expected it to be.

For the most part, controlling it wasn't too bad...but a low profile tire on an 18" rim makes it REALLY tough. It rolled enough smoke to almost create a fire.

Other than that....

Sorry to hear, Boris. ;)

Only blew one tire in my life at speed, at 121 in my Camaro. (stupid, young, but zero injuries or damage caused)

Never again have I gone a single week without thoroughly inspecting my tires.

I remember driving back from my old mans(about an hour and a half away), the car started vibrating when up to speed, at first I pushed in the clutch to see if it was rpm related(I thought maybe those honda kids got the best of my bottom end) but it was speed related, then I thought maybe a tire came apart, I pulled it over and did a walkthrough, couldnt see anything out of the ordinary, so immediately I thought it was a ujoint coming apart or maybe the carrier bearing, I got about another mile or two down the road when I decided that something is going to pop and leave me stranded, I stuck my head underneath the car to see if the driveshaft had any play in it when I noticed one of the rear inside tires was ballooned out yet it still held air! It wasnt showing coards or anything but the inner steel belt I guess broke apart inside and bubbled the tire on the inside. Through me for a loop for sure, Hopefully you didnt damage that badass rim. Sorry bout your bad luck bro.

ES100. I think because they were used before and the extreme stretch 225 on a 10" made it burst. <-- wasn't my choice for tire size I needed to get the car running. But I am ordering some 255's tomorrow. I currently have a set of 235's on there though.

damn dude, that sucks. Speaking from a guy that works with tires all day long (me) i wouldn't trust yoko's on my car...i just had 3 sets come back last week because they had bad hop in them, and they were $1100 dollar set's too. I had a set a few years ago that left me stranded and a $162 dollar tow bill. Good luck, glad it didn't mess up the ride

SOB that aint just a blowout thats a complete sidewall failure, that is freaken scary. Were they low on air? that's what usually cause's the sidewalls to heat up degrade and let loose.
