What's wrong with your existing motor?

My experience with JDM motors has been shit...Yes most have a 6 month warranty, all say they have 30-60k miles....what happens is if they send you a bum motor they will gladly send you another...if the second is bad also they'll send you another. In the meantime you go thru fluids, gaskets, hoist rentals everytime you change them. I ended up having my attorney send a letter demanding my money back and settling for the last motor they sent me and getting 75% of my money back, rebuilding my original motor.

The only way I'd get another is for spare parts i.e. head, block, etc.

well i bought a 7mge from a guy that basicly needs every machined surface redone. crank, rods, cylinder walls, cam bearings, cams, and the pistons are burnt up. the motor was ran with a seezed oil pump or no oil. i bought the engine for the wire harness ecu and other things it came with.

i was looking at one of those JIS EBAY rebuilt engines but dont like the look of the gasket kits he sells and probaly uses on the engines.
im also not expecting to have a JDM motor shipped here and slap it in the vehicle with out some rebuilding.

im not sure all jdm engines are crap. my friends and i have had good luck with them. 2 friends have bought 1j's, not problems with either of them. i bought my 7mge 2 years ago, and the only probems ive had are
1) they had shipped me a cressida 7m, so i had to swap things over. and
2) two years after i had the engine, my HG finally went.

i have had no other problems with it. (knocks on wood). i ended up getting mine from a place called "Nagasaki engine exchange" for i think 650 shipping included from canada to colorado.

I bought the longblock (http://www.enginesus.com/ejsp/items.jsp?type=Engine&enginemake=toyota&engineid=85) from this company about 8 or 9 months ago and have driven the car constantly with this engine. Since the new engine was from a Cressida, I had everything swapped over, including the pump (which I bought a new one) and the pan, all I had to do was get the new gaskets and take the parts from the Supra engine and put on the new Cressida engine. The engine runs fantastic and haven't had any problems with it yet (knock on wood). Since it had the HG replaced before they shipped it it saved me a lot of extra headache. I checked over the engine meticulously before install and saw no flaws. I was very pleased with the engine, the shipping, and customer service. I would definitely buy from them again.

great to hear that. i chose them because they seam to know what there doing by selling a engine with new HG. all the engines i see in there pictures are real clean too.
Im going to put a new HG oil pump and some other things in the engine before it goes in the truck.
didi you do a compression test before you installed it?

I made sure to do a compression test and it came out just right. I don't remember the pressure readings off the top of my head but they came out perfect to spec. The only thing that threw me was the fact that it came from the Cressida. Other than that no problems.
