Engine will not turn over...not even click

Well,
My daily driver Volvo craped out on me, so I decided to at the very least get the supras clutch system working properly. So the slave cylinder was changed a week or so back, and now I changed the master cylinder today. I got it changed out, bled the system, and the clutch pedal seems to hold pressure....YAY!

I went to try and start the car, and when I turn the key the starter does not turn. There is no click either. All the dash lights work, and the battery voltage is normal, but the darned thing will not turn over.

Any ideas?

make sure the battery terminals are on securely, check the clutch switch (bypass if necessary), and check the connector that plugs into the starter.

How do I go about bypassing the clutch switch. I think that may be the culprit.
The battery is a new red top, and the connections are splendid. Im going to go get the car up in the air again and look for loose connections.
Thanks

look at the top of your clutch pedal underneath the steering column and you will see the clutch switch. just jump the two pins of the clutch switch.

The jumping of those two pins did nothing. I did, hoever, find a short wire coming from the IGN fuse under the driversside kick pannel that was cut. What in the hell would be coming off of that fuse?

oh shit, with that wire cut your car will not start. it goes to the IGSW pin to your ECU.

well actually it comes from the fuse, to the IH1 dash connector, then to your ECU.

You sure it's the wire from the 7.5 amp IGN fuse? it's a black/orange wire right?

It is actually a wire that was pushed into the fuse slot with the fuse, and is silver. It is coming from the 7.5 amp IGN fuse.

that wire is definitely not OEM. perhaps an alarm was previously wired in, I don't know.

as long as you have continuity from the 7.5 amp IGN fuse to ECU pin IGSW, the wiring is good and intact.

Have you gotten the starter to work yet?

I am having the exact same problem right now. It looks like there was an aftermarket alarm that was taken out. I took out the wire from the fuse box that ran to the ignition and now it won't start. I have all the same problems (dash lights turn on and the battery connections are good), I just can't get the car to turn over. Hopefully someone has an idea of what might be the culprit.

Sorry Goodbarsix, I am not trying to hijack your thread, but it sounds like we are having the exact same problem. Hopefully someone can solve both our problems.

Here is pictures of the problem I am dealing with:

And another:

That's what I am thinking, but I don't know what it might be. I was hoping to take it back to stock, but I can't seem to get that to work. I am going to try a few different things this weekend, so if I can find out what the deal is, I will let you know....

Found the problem itr.00-1282 had the right idea the whole time.

It ended up being a faulty neutral safety switch. When itr.00-1282 originally told me about that problem, I was looking at the wrong connector. There are two switches on my 87's clutch pedal.
One switch is closer to the top of the pedal, and has a black small knob that touches the clutch assembly. The other switch is more toward the bottum of the pedal and has a white looking knob that touches the pedal assembly. The lower white knob is the neutral safety switch. I made a jumper for that, and wallah, the car starts.

Now to address that pesky crankwalk ;)

Tyler
P.S. THANKS itr.00-1282!!

Might you have a picture of the fixed problem?
