With apologies to any purists, I am midway through this swap and the car came with no engine and a CAmaro T5 laying in the back. I am giving the car (1987 MKIII to my daughter when complete. She really wants a V8 and 5 speed and she knows how to drive one.. I put in a Firebird engine using Ford mounts and fabricated frame mounts. Original trans crossmember modified to fit. I put a battery in and tested lights and other electric components before installing engiine and everything seemed to work. What I am looking for some help on is to find out what and where the original sending units are or the wires in some cases. I have ordered a tach adapter that should runthe original tach off the HEI GM distributor. What I need to know is where to find the tach wire in the engine bay. That hooks to tach adapter and adapter hooks to HEI tach terminal. Next: does anyone know what each Supra alternator wire is? I want to hook the original wires to the GM alternator and hopefully voltmeter will then work. Then I need to know where temp sensor is on basketcase motor so I can adapt that fitting to GM water jacket. Finally, it would be a big help to know what pressure the stock PS pump generatesso I can get correct pressure adapter from a street rod shop. I am using ram's horn exhaust and will fabricate that for true dual exhaust. (Daughter likes the sound of my Trans Am). Have lots of pics of mounts andengine sitting in car now, in case anyone is interested.
