Hey all, right now I have an 89 7mge supra. 215k, head gasket still intact and drive it everyday, I'm sure piston rings are bleeding through enough to reduce pressure on the HG so it's all good!

Anyways, I basically want to build a muscle car in a way, without much money. I've looked at 1jz (Dislike lack or torque and smaller disp.) and 2jzge-t (We lack experience or don't have many friends working with these toyotas so this may be too complicated to start.) We don't have a very big supply of money, we can do most the labor ourselves and my dad who will be working on this with me has done everything you can think of to a Chevy's, and he has plenty of friends to get other difficult such as transmission work done real cheap.

Power Goals - ~350hp and plenty of torque. Just enough to beat annoying mustangs I see everyday, and smoke kids with a muffler on their honda..

7mgte (To my knowledge) - Love the throaty sound of it, my dad is amazed and says my car sounds a lot like a domestic. I wouldn't mind keeping it old school and the motor isn't too costly. With the swap the upgrades would include: Fuel pump, Intake, 3" freeflow exhaust (I have this now), Front mount, Hopefully be able to increase boost to about 10psi with a manual boost controller and bov. If budget allows, will possible aquire a turbo elbow and downpipe. And of course, getting a gasket/seal kit and clean the motor up. How much could I expect in HP and TQ from the motor with all that?

1uzfe - Beastly sounding engine. Would love a v8 into an older car, make it a muscle car basically. It would have the same upgrades besides the turbo upgrades. I haven't looked into it much but it seems quite a bit cheaper than a 7mgte atleast on ebay and are more common. We'd probably have some people to be able to get it mounted well, but I'm sure that would probably make up for the motor being cheaper. If not, I'm sure I could get an intake mani or something alike. Same question, HP and TQ from motor?

Transmission - I was a lucky one and my supra has the 373 LSD. I'm fine with keeping the w58. Can ones with proper machinery be able to mod the bellhousing to hook up to either of these engines? I also found an ACT stage 3 with 5k miles on it for a w58 for only $100.

All insight is welcome on this, if you need anything clarified let me know I'm still not a genius with this stuff try not to accuse me if I screwed anything up. Also what about gas mileage for the two engines with those upgrades? Any ideas? It is a daily driver.

Build a 7mgte or Find jza70 engine tranny combo and call it a day. It quick and easy and it bolts right in with little wiring. Or have your dad drop in a sbc.
