Okay so guys I have a bad HG and im going to be replacing that with a MHG and arp studs.I am also getting the block machined and laped. I will be getting some seals replaced and a new water pump. Other than that what shoud I do while Im in there. I also would like to know what internals could I get since the engine will be out. Any ideas or info. will be great. The max I can spend is 5,000 I only want to spend 4,000 at the max. And I only plan on running 400hp max in the future.

Thanks,
Josh

With that budget, not sure if you'll be able to get upgraded internals. Personally i just had all my stock internals inspected, you should definitely replace all the bearings! I also had the Head rebuilt. A new oil pump is a good idea, although i think i'm gonna re-use my old one. A new fuel pump and filter is a good idea too! You're going to want to increase your budget though >=)

if thats your budget to rebuild, i would have the motor balenced, hav it prepped correctly for a mhg, have your head rebuilt, and new bearings every where.

with all that, if you find a good machinest, (in cost and quality) you should still be under 3k.

doing a new oil pump would be the best thing to keep your newly rebuilt motor alive. and remember not to run syntetic while your breaking in the motor, they hardly will break in... if at all.

Get the engine overhaul gasket kit from Toyota. It will have every little gasket and seal. It will cost you like $400. I know you don't want the headgasket, but you will want all the other items in it.

All the little copper fuel washers, EGR cooler gasket, etc etc.

To sum up,

New clevite 77 main and rod bearings and thrust washers.
New oem oil pump.
New arp rod bolts and main studs.
Recondition your old rods.
Weisco pistons with rings and pins are not much money and would be plenty for 400 hp.
New freeze plugs
All new seals
New timming belt
New valve seals

About how much would that run a man? I am prolly going to be rebuilding once I can gather the funds, I developed a rod knock.

Since your a Titan Motorsports authorized dealer, do you have all the products you just stated? If so could you give me an exact price rundown.

Thanks,
Josh

I could do that, but I won't do that here. Unlike someother folks, I don't throw out the fact that I sell new parts and try to post all kinds of prices everytime someone mentions a part. Feel free to PM me all you want however.

Alright I have to make a choice now, I have tried searching but to much stuff comes up. Should I go for a OEM HG or a MHG(cometic)? Some people say OEM others say MHG. I need some reasoning which would be better.... I am planning on making 400hp in the future..

Thanks alot guys,
Josh

IMO, there is no debating this one.
Cometic MHG of course is superior. However if you don't prep the block and head correctly, it will be worse than a stock gasket!

To be safe I would get the cometic since you have everything apart already.
