I have decided that im going to rebuild my engine. I plan to use nippon racing pistons that are .40 over. They are cryo hardened steel so I dont know how that is going to work out. New eagle H beam rods. And all Clevite 77 bearings. What do you think about this set up? Im also going to go with ARP head bolts and a MHG. Is it a good idea to use the brake quiet spray with a cometic HG? What HG do you think works best, or at least good enough to run upwards of 20 psi. I plan on making about 450 to 500 rwhp eventually. Ive read almost all theposts on this board about rebuilding the 7m. Any help or advice would really be welcome though. Thanks a lot.

some one on here had 450 hp oem HG i think. Oh and run thinker oil if your gonna be racing often. Any MHG is sooo much better from oem and as long as you get the head maching properly, then it will last upwards to 600.

If i'm not mistaken, Duane runs a cometic and he is currently pushing over 600 horsepower, so If you were thinking about them, they seem like a good brand.

No I mean steel. The pistons are actually cast steel. I think I am just goign to go with some forged aluminum ones from CP instead though, as I have had no experience with steel pistons either.

Oh sorry,I feel really dumb. The advertisement said thatthe wrist pins were hardened steel. The pistons are actually cast aluminum. In any case they look cheap and I am looking for some new ones. Does anyone have any preferences about pistons for the 7m? They have got to hold at least 500 hp relatively easily.

Yeah I knew something wasnt right but I just wasnt thinking about it. I think im just going to go with some wisco pistons .40 over. The 7m has floating pistons right?

thats cool man, rebuilds are always a good time till they become a bad time.. go fidgure. what exactly do you plan to do? start with nothing but a block and all new.. or just do rods pistons. and slapp it back together? and how about the head? im curious because i was considering doing a rebuild. and if i decide to keep mysupra id like to see what guys run and how well it works. as far as turbo goes what will you have on there? and how about injectors and managment? just curious. best of luck and keep us posted!

Well im going to use eagle rods and ARP rod bolts. Im going with .40 over JE pistons. A 2mm cometic head gasket and ARP bolts, and all the necessary maching work of course. Im in the process of disassembling my engine right now. Once I get it down to the bare block I have to have it boiled and magnafluxed to see if it has any cracks or flaws. If it does ill just have to buy another one from somewhere. All clevite bearings. Regular things like new water pump, oil pump, thermostat. T61 turbo. 550 Rc injectors with a MKIV fuel pump and walbro regulator. As for management I think im going to go with the maft pro with the boost control solenoid a wide band. Although I have not decided on the wideband yet. Stock crank and stock head. Although if I have the money I will have the engine blueprinted and balanced. This doesnt really have anything to do with my engine but im also have a fidanza flywheel I have to install and I might as well upgrade the clutch as long as the engine and tranny are out. For track days (or whenever I am losing) im going to install a modest 50-75 shot wet nitrous system. Thank to some people on the forum who have pointed me in the right direction to some good information on FFIMs I will also eventually make one of these up to go with my intercooler(if I ever get the time from work). Well thats about it. Suggestions and criticisms/comments would be appreciated.

The long block oyu just mentionned is exactly what i have right now. BTW the eagles come with arp's installed so no need for extras, I learned that the hard way and have a set just sitting around now.

So are you done with your build or are you still working on it? If you are done, how is the motor performing for you. Any hitches with the rebuild that you could tell me about so I could at least be prepared for them?

It's still sitting in my garage. My advice: make sure you did things correctly and make sure several times. I re-installed my oil seals 3 times because I was uncertain. I re-torqued my mainbolts 3+ times because I kept thinking I forgot to torque one or two. Make sure you machinist did everything you paid for, mine forgot to instal the fucking oilpump driveshaft bearings and I found this out after I had got it home/installed the crank! Needless t osay I was pissed.
