ok, after my last install (rc550s, lipp afm, 3"dp, tp) my car has been running hot. Not the actulal engine temp, but just the under the hood temp. Im running at 15afr at idel, and 10ish under high boost, i plan on working on these with my safc (not hoocked up yet). I was just wondering id there is anything else I can do to keep engin temps down.

I have a ARC Fmic, full downpipes(cermic coated), dp(ceremic coated)
any input wou have will help. For the rest of my mods and pics look at

thanks,
Joseph

I noticed that after I took my radiator out and cleaned it thuroughly the temp under the hood seemed to go down. Also I haven't had heatsoak since.

My underhood temps are high too, and I was recently told that boost leaks can cause temps to soar so putting together a boost leak tester is on my short list of to-do's.

:dunno:

My opinion: unless that Chinameter A/f guage is a wideband O2 controller then you can't trust it for anything. After looking through your mods I see you have no temp guage, so how could you possibly know if the engine is running hot or not?

Now, having those ceramic coated full downpipes you've got I can probably fairly safely say that your motor is running hot, causing your high under hood temps. Check to make sure your fan (whichever you're running, I saw a stock fan shroud but you say they are electric [worse then mechanical]) is working properly, and your radiator isn't clogged with junk like the others said.

This is of course comparing it to my own car, with no ceramic coated anything the engine bay is quite liveable if I open the hood right after driving up to full temp.

not only flush out the inside with water but use a bit of pressure with the garden hose and get all the mud, leaves, dirt whatever out of the fins. Spray water through the fins until its clear it majorly improves its efficiency.

my under hood temps are very hot, but I've just associated it with the fact that it's 90*+ outside. My intake mani gets to the point where you can't touch it for more than a couple seconds. New stock replacement radiator, working thermostat, good water pump.

Your still not going to be able to touch anything under there when its at operating temp. These engines run pretty hot. It shouldn't be like a blast furnace when you open the hood but its still pretty hot under there.

shouldn't heh

Look for a couple of vac hoses and a blue vsv behind the charcoal canister against the firewall. If the hoses are disconnected and/or the vsv is shot you will be hot under the dash. I have the same issue and need a new vsv, myself.
