1) knock sensors.. green clip in the pic hanging up by the grounds on the intake manifold

2) looks like a wire comming off the thermostat housing lost a plug. I may have to bust out the TEWD and look up the wire color.

I'm currently throwing in a 7MGTE into a cressida, without the knock sensor hooked up it runs. What can occur besides bad gas mileage , etc.

Is it crucial to have plugged in ?

Thanks alot for the responses, means alot

Yes. Leaving the knock sensors unplugged will result in timing retard, bad fuel mileage, and enriched fuel mixture.

Two lower red circles = knock sensors. The uppermost red circle = knock sensor connector (there should be two of these)

Blue circle is a block heater that's installed in place of a freeze plug, as Poodles stated. The connector for that is not likely to be incorporated into your engine harness.

This forum is very helpful , much appreciated.

One problem is , unfortunately i don't have access to the car right now as its a couple hours away in storage.

But it's quite clear there is not a plug-in for the forward facing knock sensor.
The verdict is i need to purchase a new unit?
