I'm in the process of switching to FFI, so since I'm going to make major changes, one other thing I want to do is thin out the crap. I want to maintain the ISC & CSI on the manifold (but relocated to a less conspicuous location), but want to get ride of as much vacuum lines, coolant lines & wires as possible, not to mention the EGR.

What would you recommend to remove?

Thanks x87SUPRA87x. Any other ideas or comments from the peanut gallery? This is my goal (does anyone know who's it is?). I plan on keeping the PS & A/C, so it won't be that clean, but I do plan on running the engine harness thru the fire wall directly behind the back of the intake & do away with as much clutter as possible.

My main concerns are the vacuum lines. Which one are required to stay?

some notes for you mark and ill go over them and then some with you when i come over on friday.....

1) i STILL dont think that is a running engine.... if it is its running standalone and has hid 99% of the plugs AMAZINGLY..... not to mention i dont see an ignitor or fuse box which would require TONS of work to move.....

2) also in that pic if you notice hes got a non mk3 specific radiator and has it offset so the IC pipe can go straight to the front of the car....

3) to run your engine harness through the firewall right to the intake manifold (im planning on doing this with bills car as well as mine) you have two choices....get rid of your heater core which means no heat... OR youll have basically reinvent the entire wiring harness AND cut open the heater core hole a bit more so the harness can go through as well as the line for the heater hose. this is the option im doing on bills car.

4) if youre getting a custom manifold from ron...i suggest to tell him you want X amount number of vacuum nipples on the bottom or the back and then you wont need a vacuum box which is the second best option.... in all reality you only NEED 2 ...one for the FPR and one for a bov. however youll still have PS idle up if you want it (no big loss), as well as if you want seperate lines for a boost gauge, ebc et al.....

5) also missing from that picture that is NEEDED to run the car is a fuel pump relay which can be relocated to a less conspicous place, and the injector resistor pack which again can be relocated without much hassle but these are thing that will require you to again reinvent the wiring harness for them.

6) another thing missing the heater valve...WHICH in your case you will need because the only option to get rid of it AND keep heat would be to route coolant lines directly to the heater core...which would give you heat or NOTHING...meaning no AC...so youll most likely want to keep that if you want to keep AC

id really like to know whos engine bay that is because id love to hear the story on it..... my friend bills is gonna be VERY similar with some minor other things.... and less bling since bill is lazy lol... but should be damn near as clear..

anyways that should get your started on what you are trying to accomplish. ill give you a call tomorrow night sometime and let you know what time im gonna come by on friday.

I can see a few wires with plugs. I think he thinned out his harness.

I caught on to that just few minutes ago....

I don't mind ditching the heater core, more on that later...

I'm going to ask for six vacuum ports. I can always cap the unused ones off

I think Shaeff has a wiring diagram that eliminates the Fuel Pump Relay??? Regardless, I have a few ideas for everything left under the hood minus the fuse box

Ok, the heater valve. I want to get rid of the heater core & the heater valve, yet keep the A/C. I don't see why I can't ditch them & still use the A/C. I'll lose the functionality of the auto climate, but A/C should still work, correct?

I'm anti-bling myself, so I don't know why I'm doing this.:nono: BTW, do I know Bill?
