There has to be a local hardware store / automotive store that has one...

Just check the local listings and call around

I find it very surprising, and somewhat concerning, that your mechanic can't track down such a basic tool...

Hehe, maybe now you guys understand the sacrifices i make to own a mkIII in central america. with a population of less than 1/2 mil, we lack a lot of basic things taken for granted everywhere else.

hardware stores here will carry tap & die sets, but none of them have that size. my mechanic is the best in the country, and i'm just grateful that he works on my car even if he's more than busy with other work.

I got mine from Napa.

Never gona use it again. I'll be glad to send it out to you (if I can find it). I had to re-tap the top holes for the tranny bolts on my block, where I stripped 'em.

Yep, we sometimes forget how spoiled we are in the US when it comes to finding what we need.

Satan to the rescue!

(somehow Ive always wanted to exclaim that!)

And if you can't I just might have a spare one...

I was thinking it might be a case of location-syndrome, and was actually going to say 'well at least he's smart enough to think of cleaning out those threads!!'

So more power to you, and good luck!!

Got a build thread yet? :)

i totally forgot about napa, we actually do have one here, i'll check them first thing monday morning. I know their stock here is not half of what most napa stores stock in the US, but I'll check with them. Satan, if they don't have it, i can pay for it with paypal, you'll just have to let me know how much.

I've been wanting to start a build thread, but was a little scared to start cuz i know i'll be lazy in keeping it updated. i'll have to start one though, especially since i actually need some advice on some issues i'm running into. more on that when i start the build thread.

FYI.. This MFer cost about $100 US from NAPA. I was just ready to get things fixed/runnig, but still the worse use of funds for something I'd only use once, EVER!

Don't spend that much, I'll send it to ya for much less (just shipping).
