well the water outlet pipe was a little loose, its the big huge bolt in the middle of the back of the head, is that not the water outlet?

If its the water outlet pipe that connects to the upper radiator hose and the thermostat housing that it also connects to, then you can pick up another part from a junkyard.

The thermostat housing that is.

That's not good...did it strip or did it break off? These get rusted inside and will snap. If the head is off the car, you "might" be able to get it out and install a new one.

yes, it is completely stripped. the engine is together, but out of the car :( we have an extra one, but we cant get it in because the threads are gone. :( can that be heli-coiled, its a HUGE part, i think its a 32mm or something

Look at mcmaster-carr. They have big helicoils. A 30 mm is $6 ea, of course that doesn't include the tap, but if you take it to a machine shop they will probably have the tap and not charge you too much to install it. You'll also need the "drill from hell" to clean up the hole first. Another good reason to take it to a shop.

By the way, my memory says the 32mm is the socket size, the thread is something smaller.

:naughty: I'd go the helicoil route and have the machine shop install a new fitting.
Depending on what work you've done on the head, bound to be cheaper.

Or you could weld an AN-12 fitting on and do it like this
