Emblem glue

What kind of glue is used for attaching emblems on the body of the car?

I was washing my girlfriend's Regal, the sponge caught part of the 'l' and tore it off. It is some kind of black tacky stuff.

Being completely honest, when I had my old Pre89 Taillights, on the trim, I took off my turbo badge, but I put it back on...with Super Duty Super Glue...It stayed on forever...Still is on....

If all else fails, Just let her drive that Buick REGA!

The type of glue you are looking for is called emblem adheisive. I know, what an odd name for glue that hold emblems. 3m makes some and you can buy it at any auto parts store or ebay.
