So I'm thinking of buying a Blitz SBC Spec R electronic boost controller for pretty cheap. Only downside is that the solenoid and harness doesn't come with it, it's just the head unit. There is a complete harness coming off the head unit but the harness after that (which I believe goes to the solenoid, power and possible other places like a boost gauge possibly?) is missing.
For the Spec R, you can buy a new dual solenoid for it, which will run you $240 and $50 for the harness. You can buy the Blitz brand single solenoid for $99, which is supposed to be for the Spec S (very similar model, just uses single instead of dual solenoid - also Spec S is only rated up to 18psi)
Edit: Also, the manual for the Spec R/S says a Spec R harness will not plug into a Spec S solenoid and vice versa.

So here's my question. Would it be possible to use a generic boost solenoid and still work alright? Something like this? Would I need to be worried about how the harness from the head unit will plug in - are the harnesses usually universal or not at all?

I've never hooked up an electronic boost controller before, so I'm not sure what the harness coming from the back of the head unit is supposed to connect to. I'm assuming the original setup would have gone Head unit > harness > dual solenoid > vac lines from turbo housing to actuator (stock ct26)
So what would need to be done for the solenoid, and what do the harness's coming from the back of these EBC's usually connect to?
Sorry if there's info out there on this but I couldn't find anything relevant. Thanks in advance :icon_bigg
