Is there a voltage regulator? I'm @ 14v sometimes and it'll drop down to 11 and the battery/back light light up on the dash. My turbo timer flickers off like it looses and regains a signal and my alarm will go off randomly, sometimes while I'm driving. I've picked up a multi-meter but I have no Idea where to start. Also My SAFC has a signal (5hz) coming from the AFM when it's off. Any suggestions would be very greatly appreciative, or atleast tell me how to disable the alarm so I don't have to keep waking the neighbors.

Sounds like loose battery or alternator connections to me too. Check all the engine grounds too. They get loose or corroded over time, it may be a good time for a whole new set of cables. Only costs maybe $30 total from Auto Zone.

It's a N/A body so I figured it'd go here. But the alternator connection was glowing hot today. The top of the fuse box say 1.25b and the fuse is a 140? I called the dealership and they wern't sure which one. So what belongs in an 86.5 supra?

glowing hot? a cable on the alternator got hot enough to glow? as in red??

do you mean the big fuse box in the engine bay? I'll go take a look on my supe and see what it has in it.

OK, i went right out and looked at my supra, it's also a 1986.5 but mine is basically stock sooo i know nothing of what you changed in yours to add the turbo BUT i would assume the fuses are the same.

sadly i have a problem with that VERY SAME fuse! it's more of a question though really.

I've noticed this before but forgot about it, it is a little wire that looks to be like its a purpose-made wire and not some soldered in piece, and on it the words read "2.0 SQ MM Fusible Link"

since we're both trying to find out what goes there I'm hoping this isnt a hijack...i'm just adding my little question mark along with yours... what SHOULD go there? somehow i dont think its a wire...

-------EDIT------
my dad just told me it was a wire that IS a fuse...its just inside the wire. is this stock? if so i just answered the question madseacow had i guess...lol

That link will burn like a fuse above a specific amperage for a specific amount of time. Blown fuses or fusable links are not the actual problem though, just a sign of a problem somewhere in the circuit they protect.

yea, I had a link there when I got the vehicle as well. But it's acting like it's grounding out because it arcs as soon as I start the car now.

arcs? maybe you have too much draw and its actually trying to burn up? The link that is. do you have the same kind of link in there now that i have? or a fuse. maybe the tsrm will say this stuff.

TSRM doesn't say much, I've got a fuse in there but I'm wondering if it's not too high and that's causing the issues, but I'm electricaly retarted so if someone could back up my hypothesis.

Also it looks like if theres a short it's on the altrenator end because the only part of the wire melted is right at the alt's contact point.
