i have a 1990 t and im trying to switch to the electric fan. i have a fan and all but i would like to know if anyone has any idea what to wire it to if you have a turbo timer like i do? since the fan should stay on as long as the motor is running, where should i power it from?

try wiring it to the ingition, maybe try a jumper wire and go with a power sorce off the alt. somthing has to stay hot while the engine is running.

tou might just need to double check voltage and such. but just think about it, if the engine is running, cant you still just run a 12 volt jumper from somewhere? test to see if the ingition is hot while the turbo timer still has the engine running. a lil testing goes a long way.

yeah, the ignition isnt hot with the timer running. i was thinking about jumping off the power for the timer itself but i dont want my cooling system wired to anything inside the interior part of the car. kinda wierd about that. i think ill try jumping from the alternator

Why not get a relay wired into the ON position and run it through that? Then run the main power right off the battery.

I think the yellow connector, or grey near the drivers side strut, for the ignigter or something like that, I thought it stayed on while the turbo timer was on.
good luck

how about a jumper wire off somthing like the efi fuse in the fuse block under the hood? there has to be somthing in there that stays hot while the timer is still on.

DO NOT TAP OF THE IGNTION SYSTEM

DO NOT TAP OFF THE EFI!!!. As this is ALWAYS on (hence you pull this fuse to CLEAR the ecu)

Instead use a clean connection that is meant for turn on duties LIKE the wire to turn on the radio.

that's a idea i never would have thought about..... im just trying to figure out somthing in the engine bay, since fella dosent want to run wires into the cabin area.

i was originally going to go with the radio but then i started thinking that i dont want to wire it to the inside of the car. the cabin i mean. i thik ill end up doing that though. would it drain power or make the radio fuck up?

if you're going to do this, you should use a relay if you are going to do anything with fans at all... if you just want switched power to turn the fans on, run a 10ga wire from the battery to the relay, then 10ga to the fan(s).
with a switch in the car, take some 18ga wire, and send the "ON" side of the switch to the relay, the other side to a switched power source, which would be anything that becomes live when ACC is on.

i've personally never heard of tapping into the o2 sensor wires... what is this supposed to do? simply create a switched power source?

because the 02 sensor is only one volt maybe?
thats all youd need to trigger a relay.

get a volt meter and start checkign wires that are hot when the ignition is on, and go cold when off thats what i did and just t'd the wire right in, im not exactly sure where i did it, i will check later and post
