Ok, I am doing an electric fan on our '90T. Gonna do it like the other Efan jobs I've done on other Vehicles. I LOVE the Ford SHO 3 wire 2 speed electric fan. Just picked one up at the junk yard yesterday for $20. Gonna order up a FLX-31165 which is a Variable speed controller. I have this same set up on my 4runner and friend's Tacoma. My Q is, should I leave or remove the other 3 small elecrtric fans it has stock. If I recall, it has 1 infront of the radiator, and 2 small ones behind it. This SHO fan should and will be able to take care of all the cooling needs. I have it running on low speed and it only runs for a few seconds in 60% mode. :biglaugh: So should I pull these other fans for weight reduction and more space under the hood or just leave them? FYI this controller wires up so when you turn the A/C on it kicks the fan on.

There are two electric fans that aid cooling the condenser when the A/C is running. One is next to the fan clutch, the other is on the front. The electric fan will not move as much air as a proper working fan clutch, but it will free up some hp.

hasn't it been said time and time again that a stock fan will pull more air then an electric ever could?

I have a duel electric fan from a ford contour that I modified slightly. My engine seems to stay cooler now than it did with the clutch... I did remove a couple of the other fans without problems.

One of the best mods I ever did. Easy and cheap!

the ford SHO 2 speed fan is PHENOMINAL! I'd bet money it pulls more CFM than the stock fan. In my 4runner when I used to wheel it hard it'd heat up a tad witht he stock fan. fan was fine, clutch was fine. Happens to a lot of them. Switched to the SHO fan.... Runs VERY COOL. and i'm running it on low speed and that's at 60%. I've never heard the controller turn it faster than when it 1st kicked on. My A/C is even colder in my truck witht he SHO fan. and I have the Thermomerter in the vents to prove it. in a HOT ROASTING day in FL, in traffic it'd blow low 40'sF. Now, it'll ALWAYS blow about 35F. And to think I could wire it to the HI speed!
