ok so i got to my girls house today and shes like thats smell more like fire then oil smoke. my new turbo has a small leak from the drain flange but not too bad was gonna fix saturday. so i pop the hood and oh shit fire grab hose didnt reach by about 10 feet. here comes my girl with the fire extigisher to save my car. just two melted lines and a little burnt hood lining. all else ok. my point here is my pre turbo egt was about 1450 degrees. my question is why where they so hot? i have never been really above like 1325-1350.

This should serve as a warning to anyone with even minor oil leaks on that side of the engine.... DON'T put it off fixing it.

If Montego's GF hadn't had the presence of mind to grab the extinguisher we'd have another "My Car burnt to the ground" thread.

I hope you take her somewhere nice as a thankyou.
