EGT temp question

Just wondering what the temperature would normally be? If anybody can tell me what the temp should be at idle, 50kph, 80 kph, 120 kph and any other significant speed/engine load. Just need to check it out with my new gauge to make sure.

Thanks

I have my probe tapped in the exhaust housing of the turbo right next to the t4 inlet flange. It's a 62-1 Turbonetics turbo.

I'm seeing around 800f at idle, 1000-1200F cruising on the freeway, and around 1450F at 18-20psi. I've never seen it go higher then 1500F.

Where is the probe mounted? It has a lot do do with that.

Sorry I forgot to mention that, the probe is mounted about 2" downstream of the O2 sensor in a cooleze 3" DP.

Mods are complete 3" exhaust and nothing else. I am seeing 10 psi at the top end.

That's a bad place for the probe. There's a lot of heat loss between that and your exhaust ports so what ever temps you are seeing are not at all reliable. I would move the probe to one of the runners or the collector. If you put it in one of the runners you get accurate EGTs...but only on that cylinder. In the collector it would be slightly less accurate (not much) but you would have a better overall picture of your AFR. I'd also like to note that EGT monitoring isn't the best option due to the slowish reaction time and typically short WOT duration.

Wide-band O2 monitoring is the way to go.
