Is it ok to reruse the EGR flage gasket that attaches to the side of the intake manifold? if i replace the gasket will a paper felpro type gasket suffice?

replace it. a "paper" gasket is fine... i think the one i used was paper... and mine doesnt leak.

Yes a felpro is all you need. The 7M doesn't use any metal gaskets unless they're no the exhaust side. The gaskets they use are a paper composite high temp gasket. Some gaskets used on the 7m look like the head gasket itself, a lead looking gasket with metal mesh.

if it leaks there will be black soot around it... kind of like if you have an exhaust leak from one of your flanges, theres black soot build up.

i know^^^^ try putting an EGR on with the motor in the car,i got it done but it was a huge PITA my advise is that if you reach around the front side and under the intake manifold its easier to get to those bolts after i figured that out it was much easier
