In the process of rebuilding my pig I'll be eliminating the EGR with blockoff plates, removing the charcoal canister (got a JDM thermostat housing to clean that up).
Was wondering:
-Will removing the EGR screw with the ECU at all?
-Gotta drill the gas cap right?
-Does the EGR cooler affect anything
-Is there any other info or links I can use on this?

You only drill the gas cap if you are removing the Evap canister (near the heater valve), and are plugging the lines. EGR gone will not screw up ECU. Cooler can be left in place, won't hurt anything. If you remove the cooler cover, you will have to block off the exhaust opening. Search previous threads for the kit that does everything.

-no
-not unless you plug the charcoal canister line, i rerouted it back into frame.
-yes, tremendous heat source according to some. Though its very hard to remove while in the car (ellegedly just one more piece to the BHG puzzle). So I would do it now (I did it while trans was out). John Lunsford (JBLMK3) has a very nice kit with all 3 plates including the cooler. Make sure to put new geskets in!
