EGR blockoff ???

only if you remove the entire egr cooler. Kind of pointless to just block off the two sides on the intake port and let all the hot gases still sit in the back of the head. Nice thing is I wont have to worry about all that crap building up in my intake. Some say leave it on and some say take it off however I have yet to read a thread about removing it causing issues.

you just removed the stock cover and then had a block off plate made for the triangle place? do you have to reinstall the big cover piece?

you can leave it how it is in the pic. No egr cooler needed and you dont have to worry about the intake side of the head. If you look at my engine bay pic (will upload later) you will notice I have the EGR in place but it is blocked off at the plenium with a block off plate. (I wanted it to be visible if I get pulled over but left non functional.)

The benefits of leaving it on are:
Better emissions (NOX I think)
Higher MPG at cruising

Benefits of removing it are:
More space/cleans up the engine bay.

You wont feel any difference by removing it. If its on and not in your way I'd just leave it be, But if your doing a rebuild and dont care for emissions and want the engine to look nicer then take it off.

I did mine for 2 reasons only (plus I was doing a full rebuild)

-eliminate all the heat behind the cylinder head
-eliminate all the build up of carbon and other crap that is recirculated into the intake by the EGR.

bingo.

add to benefits: less heat sitting around the back of the head....

EGR is ONLY active during cruise....
