Hello all, My name is Brian and I've been a member for quite awhile now but never really posted any of my builds. Currently I work for Subaru as a tech but was with Toyota for 5 years. This will be my 6th Supra, and the 4th time I've said it'll be the last one.

Anyway onto the point. At the beginning of September I found a 1991 Supra on craigslist for $1800, the post didnt say much other then it was a targa and it need somework and had to go. I set up a time to come see it the next day hoping that it would be a turbo and in half decent shape since the ad had no pics. When I arrived I was stunned at the shape it was in and it was a turbo unfortunetly an automatic. I talked to the owner for quite some time, He was the second owner and bought it in 1999 with 60k (it now has 192k) he kept a record of everything that has ever been done, most recently ALL coolant lines under the hood. The problem with the car was it was leaking oil, about a quart every 3 weeks according to the owner, other than that she drove flawless on the test drive, turbo spooled great, stayed at a good operating temp, everything was bone stock except for a K&N intake. We agreed on $1600 and I took her home to get looked at.

I got her into my shop the next day and found the front crank seal was bad. I also had to replace the antenna mast. Overall in very good shape even had the factory LSD. I placed and order for some parts with my friend that works in parts at Toyota where I used to work. They arrived today. Onto pics, sorry for the long story.

So I opened up the timing cover today to replaced the front crank seal and to my surprise this is what I found, besides a brand new timing belt and very poorly installed front crank seal.

The dowl pin for the tensioner came out, fortunetly it didnt do much damage. Everything behind the timing cover was covered in oil and belt material. The dowl is a whole 64 cents but will take until tuesday to get here.

Finally got time to replace everything this week, even did a transmission flush. Car runs great and shifts very smooth. As usual I forgot to take some pics of the interior.

Now I'm onto my next dilemma. Do I buy a 1JZ and swap it in over the winter or stick with the 7M and just rebuild it? I'm not good at making decisions.

Well she failed emissions yesterday. NOx was 4.057, limit was 3.500. Cleaned the egr pipes and made sure everything was in working order which it was. Cleaned as much carbon as i could from the cylinders/valves using a BG44K trick a co-worker taught me and made sure ignition timing was correct. Hopefully tomorrow she passes then I can order exhaust.
